PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolyester having excellent transparency and color tone and an intrinsic viscosity required to afford sufficient mechanical characteristics as a molded product. SOLUTION: The copolyester comprises terephthalic acid or its ester-forming derivative as a main acid component and ethylene glycol and neopentyl glycol as main components as a glycol component. The copolyester is characterized as follows. A titanium compound, a germanium compound, a cobalt compound and a phosphorus compound are contained and the intrinsic viscosity is 0.60-1.0 dL/g.
