PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To industrially and advantageously produce ethers by carrying out a telomerization reaction of a conjugated diene compound with alcohols. SOLUTION: The method for producing the ethers comprises carrying out the telomerization reaction of the conjugated diene compound with the alcohols in the presence of a group 10 metal compound and a group 10 metal complex in which a neutral electron highly donative ligand forms the complex. In the process, a base represented by general formula (I) (wherein, M<SP>1</SP>denotes an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal; R<SP>1</SP>s denote each an H, an alkyl group or the like; and n is 1 or 2) and a base represented by general formula (II) (wherein, M<SP>2</SP>denotes an onium such as an ammonium; and R<SP>2</SP>denotes an H, an alkyl group or the like) are made to coexist in the reaction system.
