PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glycol derivative of xanthine, to provide a method for producing the derivative, a pharmaceutical preparation containing the same and its medical use, especially use for the treatment and prevention of inflammation, immunodeficiency, septic shock, circulatory disorder, inflammation of gastric and intestinal tracts, infectious diseases and wound. SOLUTION: This invention provides a new compound of formula (I) effective for inhibiting the development of an adhesion molecule in a cultured human umbilical cord veinous endothelial cell, a method for producing the compound, the pharmaceutical preparation containing the compound and its medical use, especially use for the prevention and treatment of inflammation, immunodeficiency, septic shock, circulatory disorder, and inflammation and diseases of gastric and intestinal tracts.
