PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeder capable of rapidly switching between on and off for transmission of power from a carrying motor to a feed roller. SOLUTION: A power transmission device 31 transmitting power from the carrying motor to the feed roller switches between on and off for transmission of power by the swing motion of a trigger lever 33. A pump means 50 sucking ink in an ink jet recording head comprises a pump motor 51. A pinion gear 48 is fitted to the pump motor 51 so as to mesh with the gear part 46a of a trigger gear 46. The trigger gear 46 comprises a projection 46b. When the pump motor 51 is switched from a forward rotating direction for driving the pump means 50 to a reverse rotating direction, the trigger gear 46 is rotated and the projection 46b pushes down a lever engagement part provided on the trigger lever 33, whereby switching between on and off for the transmission of power.
