Method for casting a sleeved cylinder block for IC engine with the sleeve prepared from high quality sintered material with a coarse outer surface to bond to the cast block

A method for casting a sleeved cylinder block for an IC engine has the sleeves prepared from sintered high quality materials and cast into the block. The sintered material is added in several stages with a coarse layer to form the outer surface to bond into the cast block and with the inner layers with a progressively finer structure for a smooth inner cylinder finish. The outer coarse layer is less than 3 mm thick and bonds into the block through partial melting. The block can be made of cost effective lightweight aluminium alloy.
