PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image communication apparatus which can avoid unintended losing of color image data even when having received the color image data taken by a digital camera, etc. SOLUTION: The communication apparatus receives a facsimile signal from a party (call originator) (ST1), decides whether or not the received data is color image data (ST2). If the received data is monochromatic image data, the apparatus executes a usual printing process (ST6). If the data is the color image data, the apparatus decides whether or not the data is CIELAB-JPEG image data (ST3). If so, the apparatus executes the usual printing process (ST6). If the data is sYCC-JPEG image data, the apparatus informs a user by means of display or print of the fact that the apparatus received the sYCC-JPEG image data (ST4) and stores the received sYCC-JPEG image data in an image memory 6 (ST5).
