PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent (EL) element having enhanced luminescence extraction efficiency to the outside. SOLUTION: The electroluminescent element is a dispersion type electroluminescent element having a basic structure where a back surface sheet, a light-transmitting back electrode, a light-emitting layer in which electroluminescent light emitting particles are dispersed into dielectric phase, a light-transmitting front electrode, and a light-transmitting front protective film are stacked in this order, characterized in that the back surface sheet has light scattering reflexivity and the light-emitting layer has light scattering characteristics.
