PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve drivability by preventing a fuel from adhering to the branching wall of an intake port, reducing the hydrocarbons content in an exhaust gas, and preventing the temporal delay of fuel injection control. SOLUTION: The intake port structure of an internal combustion engine is provided with the intake port comprising an upstream passage and the downstream passage including a curved part, a branching wall which branches the intake port to the directions of two intake valves, a fuel injection valve disposed at the upstream side of the branching wall, and an intake valve guide. The intake port is composed by linearly forming an outer peripheral side wall face spaced from the curvature center of the curved part. On the outer peripheral side wall face, two protrusions are formed in parallel from the upstream passage over the downstream side of the intake valve guide. The branching wall is formed at a downstream side below the position at which the width between two protrusions is minimized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
