PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip ejecting device capable of properly transferring and discharging chips while suppressing the electric power consumption of a drive motor. SOLUTION: The chip ejecting device 1 is provided with the drive motor 11, a transfer mechanism 12 which is driven by the drive motor 11 and a controller 5 which controls the operation of the drive motor 11, and is so constituted that chips produced by cutting are transferred and discharged by the transfer mechanism 12 from the interior of a machine tool 30 to its outside. The controller 5 monitors a load while the drive motor 11 drives, if the load exceeds a predetermined reference value in comparing the load with the predetermined reference value, the controller allows to continuously drive the drive motor 11, if the load is the reference value or less, after the controller stops the drive motor 11 for a certain period of time, it allows to again drive the drive motor 11. The motion of the drive motor 11 is controlled in response to the quantity of the discharged chips. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
