PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air purifying apparatus which effectively generates gaseous discharge even when a conductive purifying member 3 is used. SOLUTION: Between an electrode 1 and the purifying member 3, a gas-permeable dielectric member 2 the electric conductivity of which is low and the dielectric constant of which is high is arranged. This pays attention to that electrification resistance on the side of the purifying member 3 is enlarged to relatively reduce electrification resistance on the side of air such that the gaseous discharge easily occurs. Thus, even when the conductive purifying member 3 is used, it is possible to generate the gaseous discharge effectively and high purifying performance is obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
