A sectional shutter for a window or door has a number of horizontal slats running in vertical guides each side of the opening and held in a stacked array above the opening in the open setting. The system is opened and closed by a tape drive attached to the bottom slat. The shutter construction is improved by constructing the slats from two interlocking shells, cut from strip supplies and fitting end caps which slide in the vertical guides. The space between the shells is filled with a setting plastic foam which can have insulating inserts. The slats provide a strong shutter with good thermal insulating properties.
