摘要 |
An adsorbent for oral administration characterized by comprising a spherical active carbon which has a diameter of from 0.01 to 1 mm, a specific surface area determined in accordance with Langmuir~s adsorption equation of 1000 m2 /g or more, and a diffraction intensity ratio (R) determined by the following formula (1) of 1.4 or more: R=(I15-I35)/(I24-I35) (1) wherein I15, I35 and I 24 respectively represent diffraction intensities at diffraction angles (2.theta.) 15~, 35~and 24~determined by the X-ray diffractometry. An adsorbe nt for oral administration characterized by comprising a surface-modified spherical active carbon which has a diameter, a specific surface area and a diffraction intensity ratio (R) each falling within the range as specified above and carries 0.40 to 1.00 meq/g of acidic groups in total and 0.40 to 1.10 meq/g of basic groups in total. These adsorbents for oral administratio n scarcely adsorb useful components in vivo and have favorable performance of adsorbing toxic substances, i.e., showing advantageous selective adsorption properties.
