PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the thoracic vertebra of a human body to flexibly recline rearward when the person leans against the backrest and takes a rearward reclined posture. SOLUTION: This chair with the backrest is so constituted that a seat part 3 is provided on a receiving mount 4 supported by legs 1, the front part end of a back frame 5 having an approximate L-shape in a side view is vertically swingably pivoted at the receiving mount 4 and the backrest 6 is supported on the back frame 5. This chair is provided with a waist part abutment part 10 abutting on the back surface of a part corresponding to the waist part of the human body of the backrest 6, in the upper part position of a back raised part 8 of the back frame 5. A back support 9 is elastically and rearward recliningly provided in the upper part position of the raised part 8, the back support 9 is provided with rear arms 12 and 12 extending in the left/right directions of both sides of the upper end part, the tips of the back arms 12 and 12 are engaged with the left/right positions in the upper back surface of the back rest 6, and the upper part of the backrest 6 is rearward reclined via the back support 9 including the back arms 12 and 12.
