<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for color filter formation which makes it possible to easily and precisely confirm whether a discharge head and the substrate are accurately aligned with each other. <P>SOLUTION: At a color filter part 24 of the substrate 15, ink drops 23R, 23G, and 23B discharged from the discharge head wet only a pattern area 24a formed of an ink-philic layer 21a and spread to form colored layers 22R, 22G, and 22B in striped pattern corresponding to the shape of the pattern area 24a. At a dummy pixel part 25 of the substrate 15, on the other hand, the ink drops 23R, 23G, and 23B sufficiently wet a 1st inspection area 25a formed of an ink-philic layer 21a and spread, but neither wet a 2nd inspection area 25b formed of an ink-phobic layer 21b nor spread from their landing positions to stay in dot or line pattern nearby their landing positions.
