PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor wherein a mover is provided with claw pole structure to reduce the mass and enhance the efficiency of magnetic flux generation from input power, and thereby high-speed operation control is feasible; a stator is provided with permanent magnet-buried structure to utilize magnetic flux generated from permanent magnets; and thereby large thrust is obtained. SOLUTION: The linear motor comprises: a pair of yokes (21A) which are disposed opposite to each other and constitute a stator; a plurality of permanent magnets (23) buried in a pair of the yokes (21A) in the direction of the length; a claw-pole core (24) on which armature coils (25) are wound; and a mover (21) disposed in the longitudinal gap formed between a pair of the yokes (21A) so that the mover can be freely reciprocated.
