PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive foreign matter removal device capable of removing foreign matter for a long period to prevent the defective conveyance of sheets for a long period. SOLUTION: A sheet carrying roller 66 installed in an image formation device or an image reading device comprises the foreign matter removal device 78. The foreign matter removal device comprises a foreign matter removal member 74. The foreign matter removal member is formed by installing, for example, a foundation cloth 77 as a woven fabric around a roller 75, mounting the base ends of a large number of hairs 76 on the foundation cloth 77, and brushes 79 are installed around the roller 75. The roller 75 is disposed so as to be positioned parallel with the sheet carrying roller and so that the tips of the brushes of the foreign matter removal member are brought into contact with the peripheral surface of the sheet carrying roller.
