PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte rechargeable battery with high capacity excelling in discharging property after continuous charging, load property and cycling property and with a small quantity of generated gas and nonaqueous electrolyte used in it.

SOLUTION: In the nonaqueous electrolyte rechargeable battery provided with a negative electrode and a positive electrode absorbing and storing or discharging lithium and the electrolyte consisting of nonaqueous solvent and lithium salt, the nonaqueous solvent contains cyclic carbonate ester with carbon-carbon unsaturated bond in its molecule and aromatic compound containing fluoride with ≤9 carbon atoms.
