<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection apparatus and an inspection method for printed image capable of inspecting an image printed on a medium by a simple inspection without requiring highly advanced computation. <P>SOLUTION: A print inspection system 1 has an image conversion part 2 for binarizing multi-valued image data D1 by a dither method to convert the image into print data D2, a printer head 4 for printing a dither image M on a medium P on the basis of the data D2, a CPU 10 for storing the data D2 in a memory 12 and performing various operation processing, and a reading device 6 for reading the image M printed on the medium P with a little wider range. The data D2 are operated in the CPU 10 to calculate a proportion p% of pixels equivalent to printing pixels, and inspection image data D3 are operated in the CPU 10 to calculate a proportion s% of pixels equivalent to the printing pixels.
