PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature measurement system in a melting furnace and its operation method which can grasp accurately temperature situation in the furnace, and maintainability and durability are superior. SOLUTION: In a temperature measurement system for measuring a temperature in a furnace of the melting furnace 10, an optical fiber 30 is extended and fixed to a joint part between refractory blocks 15 forming a furnace wall, in such a manner that a tip of the optical fiber 30 by which prepuce was carried out is covered with a protective tube by a joint 25. The proximal end side of the optical fiber 30 is located outside the furnace. A temperature of a furnace inside wall is measured with a temperature meter 31 installed on the proximal end side. Preferably, power supply to the melting furnace 10 is controlled based on the measured temperature. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
