PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toothed belt for driving an overhead camshaft, endurable in use at a high load. SOLUTION: At least a back portion 2 of the toothed belt is made of a rubber composition made by compounding hydrogenated nitrile rubber with unsaturated carboxylic acid metal salts and silica and cross-linking it with an organic peroxide. A code made by impregnating multifilament threads of carbon fiber having a total denier number of 1,000-40,000 of with a treatment liquid composed of rubber latex and epoxy resin is used as a core wire.
