PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor and a linear compressor with higher efficiency and reliability. SOLUTION: There are provided a stator 25, a moving member 31 comprising a movable core 34 and a magnet 35, and a leaf spring 42 which is provided on both sides in swinging direction of the moving member 31 and makes the moving member 31 to face a magnetic pole of the stator 25 with a constant gap, while supported for swinging toward axial center. As a result, no sliding part is required to support the moving member, resulting in reduction of the loss that accompanies reciprocation of the moving member of a motor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
