PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary joint for preventing resultant damage by early detecting abnormal abrasion and the damage of a seal part by constantly monitoring an abnormality recognized in the seal part or at the periphery of the seal part when the seal part is abnormally abraded or damaged. SOLUTION: This rotary joint has the seal part 3 for communicating a rotary shaft side passage 14 and a fixed side passage 15, and has a detecting means for detecting the abnormality by the abnormal abrasion or the damage of the seal part 3 by monitoring the seal part 3. The detecting means is composed of a magnet M and a coil C (a sensor S1), an acceleration sensor (a sensor S2) and a temperature sensor (a sensor S3). The abnormal abrasion and the damage of the seal part are detected by detecting the rotational torque of a rotary shaft from the transmission torque of the rotary shaft applied to the rotation stoppage of a floating sheet 2.
