PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing stainless steel through direct reduction of chromium ore is provided to manufacture stainless steel by reducing the chromium ore in the stainless steel manufacturing process, thereby recovering chromium constituent into molten stainless steel. CONSTITUTION: The method for manufacturing stainless steel through direct reduction of chromium ore is characterized in that molten stainless steel is produced by charging a mixture comprising chromium ore(20), aluminum powder(10) and CaO-Al2O3 flux(30) into an electric furnace, thereby reducing chromium through thermic reaction, wherein a weight ratio of metal aluminum (k) in aluminum powder to Cr2O3 (m) in the chromium ore contained in the mixture is defined by the following relational expression: 0.2<=k/m<=1.1, wherein the CaO-Al2O3 flux comprises 40 to 60 wt.% of CaO and 40 to 60 wt.% of Al2O3, and wherein the CaO-Al2O3 flux comprises 50 wt.% of CaO and 50 wt.% of Al2O3.
