<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer unit which can be steadily held when inserted or pulled, without involving an increase in apparatus size, and to provide an image forming apparatus using the transfer unit. <P>SOLUTION: The transfer unit is a belt-like transfer unit which can be in contact with an image carrier and separated from it. The transfer unit can be inserted/pulled into/from a device main body in a conveying direction of a belt-like member and in a direction substantially parallel to a transfer face. The unit includes: at least three pairs of guided parts which are provided on both sides of the transfer unit in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the transfer unit is inserted/pulled and are guided by a guide means of the device main body; a hold part which is provided upstream in the direction of the insertion of the transfer unit and for holding the transfer unit being pulled out; and a handle part provided substantially in the position of the gravity of the transfer unit. When the transfer unit is pulled out to a position where the handle can be operated from the outside of the device main body, at least two of the pairs of guided parts are guided by the guide means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
