摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard carbon film sliding member which exhibits a low coefficient of friction in the presence of lubricating oil and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The hard carbon film sliding member is composed of steel as a base material, has a hard carbon film in a sliding area with a partner material and slides in the presence of the lubricating oil. The volume of the hydrogen atoms contained in the hard carbon film is≤0.5at%. The method for manufacturing the hard carbon film sliding member comprises forming the hard carbon film of≤0.5at% in the content of the hydrogen atoms in the sliding area of the sliding member composed of steel as the base material by a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) method.
