PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly discharge the separated oil with an oil separator having compact structure facilitating layout. SOLUTION: A perforated plate 6 and an impingement plate 7 are provided between a locker cover 3 and a buffer plate 4 of an engine 1 to form a blow-by gas passage 5. The part between the perforated plate 6 and the impingement plate 7 of the recessed groove 4a formed on the buffer plate 4 is used as an oil inlet port 9a, and an oil return passage 9 is formed by covering the recessed groove 4a between the perforated plate 6 and the blow-by gas inlet port 5a with a lid member 8 integrally formed with the perforated plate 6. The oil outlet port 9b of the oil return passage 9 is disposed at the lower position than the oil inlet port 9a by the arrangement inclined in the fore-and-aft direction of the engine. The oil which passes through the perforated plate 6, collides the impingement plate 7 and separates from the blow-by gas, is smoothly discharged by gravity in the oil return passage 9 without being influenced by the blow-by gas.
