PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal film in which mechanical strength required when manufactured and sufficient peeling ability are attained, and optical inspection of defects is easily applied, in the method for manufacturing the liquid crystal film made to be a thin film without a supporting substrate film. SOLUTION: After a liquid crystal substance layer with liquid crystal alignment fixed on an alignment substrate is made stick to a releasable substrate composed of a saponified tri-acetylcellulose film through an adhesive, the liquid crystal substance layer is transferred to the releasable substrate by releasing the alignment substrate, and subsequently the liquid crystal film is manufactured by releasing the releasable substrate therefrom.
