<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To linealize nonlinear reproducing characteristics to be produced when phase pits come close to each other according to high density recording. <P>SOLUTION: By giving optical phase difference between adjacent pits 10, 11 using a plurality of phase pits which are different in the depth, reproduced signal property is constituted as a linear system such that a reproduced signal level increases in monotone with the increase in the number of pits included in an optical spot.
