摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a display element by which an inexpensive and soft encapsulating film can be formed by using a radically polymerizable and UV polymerizable compound as a raw material of the encapsulating film. SOLUTION: The display element is so constituted that the distribution state of charged electrophoretic particles in a dispersion liquid consisting of at least a dispersion medium and the charged electrophoretic particles encapsulated by a substrate, partitions provided on the substrate and having a junction film at the upper end part thereof and the encapsulating film provided on the upper end part side of the partitions is reflected in a display state. The display element manufacturing method comprises a step for disposing a junction film precursor consisting of the polymerizable compound at at least the upper end parts of the partitions, a step for disposing an encapsulating film precursor consisting of the polymerizable compound at the exposed surface of the dispersion liquid filled between the partitions and the surface of the junction film precursor of at least the upper end parts of the partitions and a step for integrally forming the junction film and the encapsulating film by polymerizing the polymerizable compound in the state that the junction film precursor and the encapsulating film precursor come in contact with each other.
