Disclosed are coating compositions, particularly for the laser-assisted machining (especially inscribing) of glass surfaces, comprising at least one silver compound that is soluble in an aqueous and/or organic solvent, and at least one binding agent. Also disclosed are methods for producing such coati ng compositions and methods for coating and machining glass surfaces.
