A hundred parts by weight of a thermoplastic polyester resin is compounded with 0.1 to 50 parts by weight of a thickener for thermoplastic polyester resins which comprises (a) 15 to 95 wt.% epoxidized alkyl (meth)acrylate, (b ) 5 to 85 wt.% other alkyl (meth)acrylate, and (c) 0 to 80 wt.% other vinyl monomer copolymerizable with these and has a weight-average molecular weight of 1,000 to 400,000. Thus, the melt viscosity of the thermoplastic polyester resin can be efficiently heightened. The resultant composition stably has processability in extrusion molding, blow molding, and calendering, especial ly in extrusion molding for producing profile shapes, boards, pipes, etc., and can give a molded article having satisfactory surface properties.
