<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a variety of lane markers with a reduced computational complexity. <P>SOLUTION: Based on that an amount of reflection is different when a laser beam irradiates each of a white line, Botts Dots and cat's eye, either one of the following methods is properly selected which are: a method of performing a lane marker recognition processing according to intensity changes of images picked up by a CCD camera 1 on the basis of an amount of reflected/received light of the laser beam emitted from a laser radar 2; and a lane marker recognition method by pattern-matching between a picked-up image and a predetermined template. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
