<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for decomposing an organic halogen compound in the shape of a solid type honeycomb structure of a thin partition which has an increased number of through holes per unit cross-sectional area and is high in decomposition activity per unit volume and a method for producing the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst contains at least one selected from TiO<SB>2</SB>, a TiO<SB>2</SB>-WO<SB>3</SB>complex oxide, and a TiO<SB>2</SB>-MoO<SB>3</SB>complex oxide as a main component (A component) and 0.5-5 wt% of an SiO<SB>2</SB>complex inorganic oxide (B component) as SiO<SB>2</SB>in the catalyst and is in the shape of the honeycomb structure having the following properties (a-f). In the structure, (a) the cross-sectional area (CS) of the honeycomb is 9-400cm<SP>2</SP>, (b) the length (L) of the honeycomb is 100-2,000mm, (c) the numerical aperture is 60-85%, (d) the partition thickness of the honeycomb is 0.1-<1.0mm. (e) the diameters of the through holes of the honeycomb are 2.0-7.0mm, and (f) the number of the through holes per unit cross-sectional area of the honeycomb is 1.5-16/cm<SP>2</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
