The method includes a monitoring unit which monitors a signal to be transmitted via at least one telecommunication link, with the signal containing at least a signalling signal and a content signal. The monitoring unit includes a monitoring processor which detects at least one code word situated in the signalling signal. A monitor control device monitors, dependent of the code word to be detected, at least part of the content signal. A controlling processor generates a further signal which is dependent of the code word to be detected. Dependent on the further signalling signal, at least part of the content signal which is to be monitored is transmitted to a processing unit defined by the further signalling signal. The monitoring device and the processing unit can e.g. be coupled via a telephony network.
