DISC DRIVE

A disc drive suitable for a disc cartridge comprising an opening through which a head accesses a disc, a shutter for opening/closing the opening, and a rotator partially provided with a gear part and first and second cut parts on the opposite sides of the gear part and engaging with the shutter. The disc drive comprises a shutter drive mechanism including a rack part engaging with the gear part and first and second drive levers engaging, respectively, with the first and second cut parts and being supported rotatably, and a cam structure for driving the first and second drive levers of the shutter drive mechanism to oscillate as a section for carrying the disc cartridge moves, wherein the rotator is rotated such that the first and second cut parts of the disc cartridge held by the carrying section and the gear part engage with the shutter drive mechanism to open/close the shutter.
