PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling network device which can control a network device by repetitive connection and disconnection of a physical link and can recover the device from its trouble. SOLUTION: A management terminal 1 sequentially monitors the condition of a HUB-A, a HUB-B, a HUB-Z, and the terminal; and detects the fact that generation of a trouble in the HUB-A and a disconnection of a logical connection. Monitoring software 11 issues a physical link control command to a network adaptor 13 to repeat OFF (without voltage level)/ON (with voltage level) operation of a transmission signal line 6 times during a time of 10 sec. Thus, the adaptor 13 repeats the OFF/ON operation of voltage level of a signal on the transmission signal line 6 times in 10 sec. When detecting the fact, the HUB-A transmits a hardware reset signal to a power supply circuit of its own adaptor to recover from its trouble. The repetition of connection and disconnection of the physical link enables to control the network device and to recover from the trouble. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
