PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic tool exchanger capable of exchanging only tools for friction stir and a tool holder capable of convertibly holding tools by the automatic tool exchanger. SOLUTION: Using a rotational tool holder 29 having a rotational base mount 40 and an engaged tip as the tool holder, a rotating tool 33 is grasped by press-inserting the rotational base mount 40 and at the same time, the engaged tip is engaged with an engaged portion 48. By this way, the rotating tool 33 can be held only by press-fitting the rotational base mount 40, and if only a directional force to withdraw from the rotational base mount 40 is given to tools, holding is released and separated. Using a tool changer 20 provided with a tool mounting table 75 and a releasing means 76 as the automatic tool exchanger, the releasing means 76 can give a directional force to be released to the rotating tool 33 and the rotating tool 33 withdrawn is received by the tool mounting table 75 for tools.
