In a gas turbine installation, an exhaust gas chimney is formed by the transition piece of a steam generator, into which transition piece exhaust gas from the gas turbine can be introduced and can be discharged from the transition piece to a chimney orifice. The transition piece includes a component of the steam generator by which the exhaust gas can be supplied to a boiler region of the steam generator. The boiler region follows the transition piece in the direction of flow of the exhaust gas and has, arranged in it, at least one heating surface for the generation of steam.
