<p>It is possible to realize a gain equalization technique capable of effectively compensating the light wavelength characteristic with a high accuracy by using a combination of a plurality of cyclic filters. For this, this gain equalizer includes a first compensation section having a loss wavelength characteristic of monotonous increase or monotonous decrease of the wavelength region to be compensated and compensating the rectilinear gain component of the wavelength characteristic in the wavelength region to be compensated and a second compensation section for using an optical filter consisting of a plurality of cyclic filters cascade-connected by the first compensation section so as to compensate the wavelength characteristic in the wavelength region to be compensated which has not been compensated by the first compensation section.</p> |
