The conveyor (2) contains rolls (b, d) with an elliptical cross-section in between rolls (a-c) with a round cross-section. A cleaning device for plants grown on farmland or in greenhouses comprises a frame (1) containing a roller conveyor in which the rolls have parallel rotation axes, are spaced apart and are rotated in the same direction. The plants are transported along the conveyor so that waste material falls down the gaps between the rolls. The conveyor comprises rolls with a round cross-section and rolls with an elliptical cross-section, each elliptical roll being located in between two round rolls. The short axis (A) for the elliptical roll cross-section is larger than the diameter (D) of the round roll and the long axis (B) is smaller than this diameter.
