The present invention provides a method for monitoring therapeutic gene transfer and expression into a subject. Also provided is a recombinant adenoviral vector encoding at least one therapeutic gene and a gene for a membrane expressed targeting molecule including human somatostatin subtype (2) receptor. Such vector may be used for treating various tumors.
