PURPOSE: An electric rice pot is provided to prevent over lifting when a lid of the rice pot is open. CONSTITUTION: An electric rice pot includes a damping device to prevent a lid of the rice pot from opening suddenly with an opening spring. The damping device has a damping plate(60) and the damping spring. The damping spring has a friction guide surface(312), a compressive plane(311) and a hanging portion(315). The damping plate is formed to a rear end portion of the lid. The hanging portion is installed to a rear portion of the damping plate. The friction guide surface is formed to the damping spring to give friction force by contacting the damping plate when the lid rotates. The compressed plane is extended from the friction guide surface to give compressive force to the damping plate. The hanging portion is extended from a lower end of the friction guide surface to be hung to a hinge shaft(23), folded in an L shape. Thereby, over lifting of the lid of the rice pot is prevented by friction force and compressive force.
