PURPOSE: An intelligent traffic guide system using a mobile communication system and an operating method thereof are provided to transmit the real-time traffic information to a user by collecting and analyzing the service information of public transportation service companies. CONSTITUTION: An intelligent traffic guide system using a mobile communication system includes a plurality of service information centers, an ITS server, a PSTN, a mobile switching office, a plurality of base stations, and a cellular phone. The service information centers(50,55) include plural wireless terminals to collect and report the present position information, the route information, and the traffic information. The ITS server(60) is used for processing the present position of a vehicle, the next destination, the final destination, the estimated time of arrival, and the route information. The PSTN(70) is connected to the ITS server in order to set up plural paths. The mobile switching office(80) is connected to the PSTN in order to monitor and control the mobile communication system. The base stations(90) receive or transmits the corresponding data to the cellular phone according to a control operation of the mobile switching office. The cellular phone(100) is connected to the base stations and the ITS server in order to request the traffic information and receive the desired traffic information.
