PURPOSE: A car audio system and its operating method are provided to enable a driver to record data on conversation by mobile phone while the driver is driving a car by adding a voice record function to a car audio system. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a key input device(150), a microphone(100), an AD converter(110), a memory(140), a DA converter(170), a codec(160), an amplifier(180), a speaker(190), and a CPU(130). The key input device(150) enables a driver to input key signals corresponding to a voice record, a record stop or a record data deletion. The microphone(100) receives external voice signals if a voice record key signal is selected. The AD converter(110) converts the voice signal, received from the microphone(100), into digital signals. The memory(140) stores the converted digital signal. The DA converter(170) converts the digital signal, received from the memory(140), into analog signals. The codec(160) encodes the digital signal received from the AD converter(110) or decodes the digital signal extracted from the memory(140). The amplifier(180) amplifies the analog signal received from the DA converter(170) to a certain level. The speaker(190) outputs the amplified analog signal. The CPU(130) controls an operation of each component.
