PURPOSE: A power train of an automatic transmission for a vehicle is provided to reduce the development cost of the new power train, and to improve drivability and fuel consumption ratio by reducing the reduction ratio by speed ranges. CONSTITUTION: In a power train of an automatic transmission for a vehicle, plural planetary gear sets(PG1,PG2) are combined to an input shaft(2) connected to an engine through a torque converter and one planetary set(PG3) is disposed to an output shaft(4) horizontally installed while leaving a space from the input shaft. A manual speed-changing mechanism(20) to achieve more increase of speed than the supreme speed range of the power train is disposed to the rear end of the input shaft and the output shaft. The manual speed-changing mechanism comprises an input gear(22) disposed to the input shaft; a driven gear(24) disposed to the output shaft without rotational interference; and a synchronizing mechanism(26) comprising a synchronizer mechanism connecting the driven gear to the output shaft according to the manual operation of a select lever of a driver's seat.
