PURPOSE: A low-power ADC(Analog-to-Digital Converter) and method for operating the same are provided to compare an inputted analog voltage value with the first reference offset voltage, to remove the DC component of the analog voltage value, to compare the AC component, the second analog voltage value, with the second reference offset voltage, and to convert the analog signal into a digital signal. CONSTITUTION: A preprocessing part(40) is composed of an analog input and first reference offset voltage processing part(32), a buffer part(34), a timing synchronization and subtraction part(36), and an addition part(38). The analog input and first reference offset voltage processing part(32) compares the first analog voltage, first inputted, with the first reference offset voltage. The buffer part(34) executes buffering in order to remove a DC component according to the first analog voltage value inputted. In case that the first analog voltage value is larger than the first reference offset voltage, the first reference offset voltage is buffered and inputted to the addition part(38). The addition part(38) sums and outputs the first reference offset voltage buffered and inputted. The timing synchronization and subtraction part(36) synchronizes the first analog voltage value with the output of the addition part(38) in timing, subtracts the output of the addition part(38) from the first analog voltage value in order to remove the DC component, and outputs the AC component, the second analog voltage value.
