Treatment of compositions containing 5-HT2 receptor antagonists useful in treating such venous conditions as hemorrhoids, varicose veins, venous insufficiency and wounds. In particular it comprises use of a 5- hydroxytryptamine-2 receptor antagonist (5-HT2) at an effective therapeutic dose to treat a human or animal suffering from such a condition. The 5-HT2 receptor antagonist can also be administered prophylactically.
