PURPOSE: A method for supplying a call waiting tone to minimize changes of a communication network is provided to enable a sound source selection device to confirm whether a call waiting tone service is registered, instead of an exchange or an HLR, thereby minimizing functional changes of the exchange without changing HLR functions. CONSTITUTION: A call attempt of an originating subscriber(10) is transmitted to a receiving exchange(40)(S2) via an originating exchange(30)(S1). The receiving exchange(40) requests a call waiting tone to be delivered(S3). A sound source delivery device(50) requests a sound source number to be delivered(S4). A sound source selection device(60) supplies the defined sound source number to the sound source delivery device(50)(S5). The sound source delivery device(50) delivers a sound source corresponding to the sound source number to the receiving exchange(40)(S6). When a call is connected, the receiving exchange(40) makes the call between a receiving subscriber and the originating subscriber(10)(S7), and requests the sound source delivery device(50) to stop delivering(S8).
