FIELD: food products protection. SUBSTANCE: repellent contains composition to scare away insects that is in contact interaction with a bottom plate obtained due to applying the above-mentioned composition onto this bottom plate. This composition has got chemical compound in the quantity being nontoxic for people and animals at releasing. The method for scaring away insects deals with applying the repellent to the place where insects may be. Composition of preparation for scaring insects away contains repellent's chemical compound and substance that regulates releasing and contains chemical compound which could be either synthetic and/or natural and, possibly, a solvent. Chemical compound for scaring insects could be taken out of the group consisting of essential oils and their active ingredients. Repellent should be applied onto packaging material, for example, with food products. Repellent suggested provides high protection of food products not to the detriment of their quality.
