PURPOSE: A loop-forming element of a knitting machine and a warp knitting machine is characterized by having a loop-fetching needle containing a cheek zone formed a notch, containing a control side which is formed on an end of the cheek zone to guide a control side of a delivery needle, being capable of changing difference between the loop-fetching needle and the delivery needle and containing a delivery hook having width being wider than a hook of the loop-fetching needle. The loop-forming element is capable of improving work stability, work reliability, adaptability and knitting speed. CONSTITUTION: A loop-forming element of a knitting machine and a warp knitting machine comprises a loop-fetching needle(2) and a delivery needle(3). The loop-fetching needle(2) comprises: a shank(5) containing a cheek zone(12) at a short distance from a hook(9); the cheek zone(12) having width being wider than the other parts of the shank(5); and a driving device working the shank in a longitudinal direction. The delivery needle(3) comprises: a main body(23) parallel with the loop-fetching needle(2); a driving device driving the delivery needle(3) in the longitudinal direction; and a delivery hook(26), which is formed on an end of the main body(23), having width being wider than width of the hook(9).
